When should you conduct stay interviews?

Ideally, managers should have these one-on-one conversations with their direct reports every three to six months, so you have an up-to-date definition of a great place to work.

We also recommend conducting them during specific organizational or team events, such as:

  • A period of high turnover
  • A period of high talent demand
  • Big changes in business direction
  • Low employee engagement scores
  • A recent employee's departure
